For its 29-item Holiday 2012 collection, NARS cosmetics took inspiration from pop artist Andy Warhol and was not only informed by the color palette of Warhol’s paintings, but also his films and the people who filled his famous Factory art space. The influence is reflected in the above video, which makes clear reference to his 8mm films.
For all our readers in Tokyo: During a three-day pop-up store at Sunday Issue you’ll get the chance to experience and purchase the Nars x Warhol line from November 29th-December 1st.

We try our best to stay fit, but life is full of other shit to do, and sometimes that bike ride or trip to the gym just can’t happen. Things would be different if we lived in this Tokyo house, designed by in-country firm Naf Architect & Design. You see, not only can its lucky residents take the stairs up and down, they can also scale some ladders and, most notably, a climbing wall.
“The seven-meter climbing wall is positioned in a courtyard at the center of the house and leads up to rooms on the first floor, then on to a roof terrace hidden behind a two-meter-high parapet,” Dezeen tells us. Not much to look at from the outside, but the clever innovations inside are genius.
More looks after the jump…

Design agency This is Real Art speak to Adam Hinton about his series of photographs taken in and around Shibuya station in Tokyo. Published by TIRA themselves, Hinton searches out individuals among the sea of commuters who travel through the subway everyday. Personal moments, most of which show the subject deep in post/pre work thought, are captured – drivers, smokers, mask wearers…all carrying that world weary look every commuter can relate to. It’s Nice That feature the book alongside an interview with TIRA’s Director Paul Belford on this their first (beautifully designed) publication, available here. (INT)
Take a look through our gallery for images from Shibuya.

The Rig Out Issue 5, ‘Tokyo 5 Years Too Late’ is ready and waiting to wing its way onto coffee tables across the land. This pleases us greatly. The crew headed to Tokyo this time, a strictly work trip (interrupted only by supermarket sweep sessions in Oshmans), the resulting magazine is a top notch production as always. With its shiny new look courtesy of art director Andy Bird, stories from here and there and fine garms from the likes of LVC, Rapha, Beams Plus and many many more – this latest volume can be yours at the click of a button. We recommend you get on it - More from Issue V coming soon.

There’s nothing like a Norfolk Jacket to make you feel like an extra from a BBC period drama.
Worn by hunters, Princes, Rifle Corps volunteers and nineteenth century cyclists, it still remains the ultimate belted blazer. Strangely though, for something which can feel very costume-y, as long as you steer clear of the knickerbockers it’s a rather easy jacket to wear. This one from Free & Easy’s Rugged museum shop is a particularly nice example. Elbow patches, football buttons, chin strap and pleated pockets. Edward VII would be proud.

A little heritage porn for you all. ACL with the help of Red Wing Japan “discovered” one of the finest looking shoe repair joints in Tokyo. “There’s a shoe repair place called Brass in Tokyo like no other I have ever been to. The guys from Red Wing Japan took me there last time I was in country. Often it’s those moments — like when I was first introduced to Brass in person — that make me realize the Japanese can still do ‘Americana’ better than Americans. I could easily see a place like Brass in Portland or Brooklyn or L.A., but I doubt it would have the customer base to actually survive. Maybe I’m wrong though.”
More looks after the click.
