There you are – The CHANEL N°5 Film Starring Brad Pitt

There you are The CHANEL N°5 Film Starring Brad Pitt

For many, CHANEL N°5 is an icon. For others, the best-selling fragrance evokes the eternal woman. For Joe Wright, the director of the new advertising campaign for N°5, the scent is “a phenomenon that continues to invent and reinvent itself.” Case in point: the unexpected decision to sign Brad Pitt as the face of N°5. The actor follows in the footsteps of Coco Chanel, Marilyn Monroe, Catherine Deneuve, Lauren Hutton, Nicole Kidman and Audrey Tautou, and represents a first in the world of women’s fragrance, just as N°5 marked a first in 1921 with its radical and intoxicating mix of 80 ingredients.

Watch ‘There you are’ here below, and check out the new print ad of the campaign here above.

Sennheiser Amperior Headphones – Milled Aluminum Cups

Sennheiser Amperior Headphones Milled Aluminum Cups

The Sennheiser HD25-1 II headphones (see our review here) have been lauded for their superior construction and sound by everyone from DJs to busy travelers looking for a well sealed, exceptional sounding headphone. Ask me to recommend a pair of headphones that can take the beating while keeping out the sound of the  subway and the answer would be the HD-25-1 II headphones.

Now, the German headphone maker has upped their HD-25Sennheiser Amperior Headphones Milled Aluminum Cups series with the release of the new Sennheiser Amperior, a headphone clearly modeled on the former with some strong upgrades in both design and sound.

Read the full review on the following page…

Sennheiser Amperior Headphones Milled Aluminum Cups

The cups on the Sennheiser Amperior headphones are the first sign of change: milled from solid aluminum, the earcups are a drastic upgrade to the plastic cups found in the HD-25Sennheiser Amperior Headphones Milled Aluminum Cups line. While they add just a touch of weight, they not only look impressive but help control the sound within the Amperior drivers.

Highs and especially bass are now much more controlled in the soundstage (fans of the booming HD-25 bass sound will not be disapointed when upgrading – we promise). Where the highs would occasionally be especially bright when listening to electronic or rock music, they are now less fatiguing and more in balance with the overall sound.

The rotatable earcups remain a great feature on the Sennheiser Amperior headphone as does the expandable headband.

One of the biggest additions the Sennheiser Amperior headphones bring to the HD-25 range is the additions of a mic/volume controller on the cable making it perfect for portable and mobile use. While some hi-fi nerds will be annoyed that the controller is built in and not removable, the day to day wearer using these cans on the road with their phones will appreciate the addition.

Should you upgrade to the Sennheiser Amperior if you are a current owner of the Sennheiser HD-25-1 IISennheiser Amperior Headphones Milled Aluminum Cups? Those looking for a touch upgrade and new users looking for one of the very best sealed, closed, and highly portable headphones on the market will be happy with the Amperior, though the Aluminium cups do come at a premium – $350. Also available in blue Aluminum.

The Sennhesier HD-25-1 II at $199Sennheiser Amperior Headphones Milled Aluminum Cups is still offers a damn good return in sound for your money.

Jepsen-Leather-07

Jepsen Leather Goods is a small, newly established studio based in Madison, Wisconsin, making some really smart accessories. The brainchild of Alicia Jepsen, these items are beautifully crafted, handmade by this skilled lady. Taking a look through her blog, we were struck by the custom baseball stitch iPad case and some great collaborations including an incredible bike tool bag featuring intricate carving by Kara Ginther.

“Each item is individually cut, dyed, and stitched by hand.  We use only the best full grain vegetable tanned leathers and durable waxed linen thread.  Full grain leathers have not been sanded or buffed to remove imperfections. This means that each piece is unique and carries its own distinct characteristics.”

Brenthaven ProStyle Laptop Bag

June 19th, 2012 by

brenthaven-laptop-bag-0

A solid laptop bag provides both function and style. Brenthaven’s Prostyle 13″ Courier bag balances both without excessive weight – or flash. The Prostyle Courier falls easily into the minimalist category of laptop bags, but still manages to provide plenty of useful space and looks to whomever hefts it across their shoulder.

The Courier’s design intelligently utilizes every inch of bag to create abundant pocket spaces of varying size and application without overcrowding. Plush cushioning in the main compartment allows a moderate level of protection for your laptop without adding bulkiness. The Brenthaven’s heavy black “micro ballistic” fabric isn’t beautiful but is sporty and light; its subtle leather zipper pulls and foot, along with plain metal latch and strap adjuster, provide a professional touch. A soft fabric strap with extra width creates comfort on the shoulder. The Courier’s simply stitched Brenthaven label says it all: sleek, straightforward quality. Available from Brenthaven and  Amazon.

NEXUSVII x Timberland MIL 5-H Gore-Tex Boot Holiday 2011

NEXUSVII x Timberland MIL 5-H Gore-Tex Boot Holiday 2011

For the second time NEXUSVII and Timberland present a collaboration on the MIL 5-H Gore-Tex Boot. We love the mid cut boot, especially in this new clean navy make-up by the Japanese brand and of course the added Gore-Tex layer. A great mix of tonal materials on the upper, subtle branding and a clean off-white outer sole, makes these one of our favorite boots of the current season. Look out for a drop at NEXUSVII retailers this week.

Marco Brambilla ‘RPM’ Short Film for Ferrari

November 29th, 2011 by

Marco Brambilla 'RPM' Short Film for Ferrari

Video artist Marco Brambilla, who has already worked with Kanye West and others in the past, presents his new kaleidoscopic 3D short film ‘RPM’, which was commissioned by Ferrari, celebration of their latest auto masterpiece, the 458 Spider.

“Assembling footage shot on location over several months at the Italian Formula One Grand Prix in Monza with imagery from the Scuderia Ferrari archives and the artist’s own recordings, RPM is a visceral, cubist representation of a Formula One driver’s state of mind during a race.

Featuring Möbius strip racetracks, wind-gritted teeth and a howling soundtrack of throttling engines, RPM accelerates in complexity with every turn of the circuit.”

The video premieres tonight during Art Basel Miami. Check it out early here below.
