Models Off Duty has moved to altamiranyc.tumblr.com/archives will remain here

February 25th, 2012 by

Hello all! It’s been a solid 4.9 years of blogging from this blogspot.com location. A journey that started with a point and click camera back in the summer of 2007 as a hobby and now runs the gamut from corporate clients such as L’Oreal and Tiffany & Co. to editorial clients like Vogue Japan and the New York Times. Words can’t express my gratitude for your support over the years here at blogspot.
It’s time now for a change. While I will leave the archives intact here at blogspot, I’ve chosen to move all future updates over to my new layout at TUMBLR.com, blog design courtesy of Rich Tong.
See you there!

Imogen Morris-Clarke (Next, NY) on Crosby and Spring Street

January 11th, 2012 by

Coat is Vintage YSL. Imogen had just arrived back in New York after trips to New Zealand and London among other global cities and was on her way to visit a friend when I caught up with her in Soho.

Good to see you Imogen!

So Friday I did some work at the Lanvin Presentation at Milk Studios and Judith was on her way to a shoot there. Such a nice chance encounter with someone I’ve known since 2007.

2012 New Years Challenges

January 3rd, 2012 by

Maybe that’s what I want??? (Constance Jablonski)

Are you open to creative suprises? (Maryna Linchuk)

Wink at 2012, life is FUN! (Jacquelyn Jablonski)

Are you going to cover things up from yourself to avoid facing reality? (Jessica Clarke)

Are you going to keep secrets from yourself? (Joan Smalls)

Are you brave enough to be silly? (Behati Prinsloo)

Are 2012′s challenges going to make you implode and lose sight of who you reallyare? (Adriana Lima)

Will 2012 bring surprises that make you pensive about being yourself (Anja Rubik)

Will you smile, being comfortable in your own skin? (Miranda Kerr)

Will you learn to “heart” yourself so you can learn to “heart” others? (Liu Wen with Anais Mali)
Happy 2012! The world’s got loads of changes awaiting this year: a new U.S. presidential term, the Mayan Calendar officially ends (omg, omg I’m sooo afraid), and Facebook will finally go public.
Yet, despite any major external events, our happiness is always internally 100% our choice. It’s not your boyfriend’s job to make you happy. It’s not your girlfriend’s job to make you feel good about yourself. It’s your job to choose happiness for yourself. My challenge to you guys is to let go of trying to control what others think of you in order to make space for you to be who you really are.

Global Socializing: Dandy Good Times from Riga, Latvia

December 28th, 2011 by

So when I did my Baltic State “tour” I dropped off to get the inside scoop on the state of Baltic Fashion straight from the “horses mouth” (an American phrase) at Dandy Model Management. Nils, the model management founder (on left), made some coffee while we talked about everything from discovering Ginta Lapina and Ieva Laguna to the politics of fashion in Riga, Latvia. It was interesting to note the differences in challenges between a smaller mother agency faces versus the bigger agencies in New York. Click the above photo to take you to the Dandy Blog feature regarding my visit.

Karlie Kloss (Next, NY)

December 27th, 2011 by

In a world (the fashion world) where people commonly mistake their public image of who they represent with who they really are on the inside, it’s always freeing to meet someone who intuitively makes you feel like they know who they truly are on their inside. I’ve always felt a bit of this authenticity with Karlie which I think this picture displays.
